Hartmann Schmige

Hartmann Schmige is a German screenwriter and director. He is a founding member of the Association of German Writers and partner in the publishing of the authors.

Biography

Studied journalism, sociology, political science in Freiburg, Munich, Berlin. In Berlin, he headed the Institute of Journalism under Professor Harry Pross the film lab. Degree with a thesis on the theories of film montage in Eisenstein, Kracauer and Bazin.

Since 1975, Hartmann Schmige is a freelance writer and director. Schmige first wrote screenplays for feature film comedies. The winner of the film strip in silver short film Valse Triste was created in collaboration with Christian Rateuke and Stefan Lukschy. Together with Rateuke he wrote the feature film The Man in pajamas, was awarded the Ernst Lubitsch Prize for the leading actor Otto Sander. This was followed, again in collaboration with Rateuke, the screenplays for several feature films Dieter Hallervorden, including Didi - Der Doppelgänger. From Schmige and Rateuke also originate, in collaboration with the composer Wilhelm Dieter Siebert, the libretto for the opera sinking of the Titanic and the book for the musical Schlemihl.

In 1986, Schmige with a handful of other authors, the Association of Writers, from the then Association of German writers emerged, in which he worked from 1986 to 1999 on the board. Schmige is particularly committed to ensuring that the writers are recognized as equal creators in addition to the directors. Since the late eighties, Schmige also operated in a thriller specialist. Here in close collaboration with director Michael Lähn the telefilms The agent provocateur, Witness, red light and the murderer and the harlot who was born according to motives of "Crime and Punishment " by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Schmige was and still is also the author of many rows and series. These include Wolff's Turf, The Investigators, A Case for Two, Sparrow ( TV series), dual use and crime scene ( TV series).
