Hattie Carnegie

Hattie Carnegie (actually Henrietta Kanengeiser; born March 15, 1889 in Vienna, † February 22, 1956 in New York) was a successful American jewelry and fashion designer in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.

Origin

Henrietta was born the second of seven children of Jewish tailor Kanengeiser Isaac and his wife Helen Kranczer. In 1900, she emigrated with her family to America.

Life and success in America

The 16 -year-old Henrietta worked as a secretary at the Macy 's Store, one of the famous New York department stores, they supported the same time their parents in order to upgrade their few clothes, they combined these with small accessories. Death

Hattie Carnegie married in 1928 John Zanft ( 1883-1960 ), the marriage remained childless. As Carnegie in 1956 in New York died, she stood in front of an eight- million dollars business.
