Haunting the Chapel EP and is the second publication of the thrash metal band Slayer.

Formation

After the success of Slayers debut album Show No Mercy was Metal Blade Records ' owner Brian Slagel it to record another album with the band. This had already written and Chemical Warfare Captor of Sin, appeared as Show No Mercy, so Slagel wanted to release an EP. The EP was recorded in Hollywood with producer Bill Metoyer; because the percussion room had no carpet, Slayers roadie Dave Lombardo Gene Hoglan drums had to stick together in Chemical Warfare.

The re-release of the EP also contains Aggressive Perfector on the compilation Metal Massacre III. In addition, the three original tracks found on re-releases of the live album Live Undead on CD.

Music style

Since the band had developed since the debut, Haunting the Chapel could be seen as a stylistic preview, although none of the tracks would appear on Hell Awaits. Chemical Warfare is a fast piece with lots of tempo changes, Captor of Sin slower but more powerful, and Haunting the Chapel of the then " serious " pieces of ribbon with " pounding " drums and Conrad " Cronos " Lant from Venom reminiscent vocals and kirchenartigem singing.

Reception

The page TheLeftHandPath.com took Haunting the Chapel on in his list of important thrash metal albums. Ron nietas wrote in Hoglans Brain Damage fanzine, he would not have expected that the band show could beat No Mercy, as the album is everything you wanted from a power metal album. If you liked the album, one must possess the EP.
