Life

She was born as Marta Reickova in the village Nadabula, in the Slovak region Banská Bystrica, where the Socialist- Zionist youth movement Hashomer Hatzair joined. In 1939 she emigrated to Palestine, where she moved Ma'anit in the kibbutz. The rise of fascist forces in Africa motivated them for military service in the armed forces of the Haganah Palmach. The British Special Operations Executive (SOE ) cooperated with the Palmach and asked for support. Reik reported for duty at the Women's Auxiliary Air Force ( WAAF ) and participated among others in the Battle of el- Alamein.

In support of the Slovak National Uprising, the Jewish Agency, the SOE asked for deployment of fighters, including the exchange of information with their own representatives in Slovakia Gisi Fleischmann restore. On September 21, 1944 Reik landed near her home village, where was the center of the Slovak National Uprising at this time. Together with Abba Berdiczew, Rafael Reiss, Zvi Ben- Yaakov and Chaim Hermesh they recruited a group of about 40 Jewish partisans who took part in the defense of Banská Bystrica.

After the defeat of the end of October 1944, this group of partisans withdrew in the Tatra Mountains and tried in the same area of the village Bukovce a small " fort " build.
