Hawaii Five-O

Hawaii Five-O (Original Title: Hawaii Five -0) is an American crime drama, created from 1968 to 1980 a total of 279 episodes of 45 minutes each of the over the years. The name Five-O alludes to Hawaii than in 1959 newly arrived 50th U.S. state.

The series was almost entirely filmed in Hawaii; front of and behind the camera countless locals were involved in the production. Jack Lord, who hunts in the James Bond film James Bond Dr. No was known, is still revered as a national hero in Hawaii.

Action

The main character of this series, Steve McGarrett, the head of a special police unit, whose job it is to combat organized crime in Hawaii. He and his assistant Danny Williams are directly subordinate to the Governor of Hawaii. In their investigations and operations they are supported by colleagues from the police of Honolulu.

Broadcast

In Germany, the first was in 1971 and 1972 26 episodes of the series. The remaining episodes ran, but two have never been in Germany sent consequences, some 20 years later on ProSieben and then frozen at that cable channel. It was followed by further repetitions, a high-resolution transmission took place from 2009 to 2010 on Anixe HD as well, starting with Season 5, starting from February 2013 AXN.

Soundtrack

The composer of theme music and score Morton Stevens was able to win for individual episodes of this series, among others, in addition to a nomination (1969), two Emmy Awards (1970 and 1974). The Ventures also benefited from the popularity and occupied with their version of the theme song 1969 # 4 on the U.S. charts.

Remake

Since 2010, produces and broadcasts the even then exporting CBS remake of the series under the title Hawaii Five -0.
