Hedda Berntsen

Hedda Helene Berntsen ( born April 24, 1976 in Oslo) is a Norwegian freestyle athlete. In the early years of her career she was active in the telemark, alpine ski racer later as she started especially in the slalom discipline, finally in the freestyle ski cross discipline.

Biography

Berntsen operated the ski sport telemark in their youth. In the Telemark World Cup 1997 she won the gold medal in the discipline Classic.

At Alpine Ski World Cup Berntsen first participated in the 1999/2000 season. There she started almost exclusively in the slalom, but could only occasionally enter top results. She placed a total of eight times in the top ten. Best placings were four fifth places, they reached from January to November 2001. In the same year she also managed to rank 28, the best result of her career in the overall standings of the world cup.

The biggest success of her career, she celebrated Alpine World Ski Championships in 2001 in St. Anton, as they surprisingly went in the slalom to third place. But won the bronze medal she could confirm only approximate neither at the Olympic Winter Games in 2002 nor in the 2003 World Cup.

Because of persistent failure Berntsen joined the ski cross discipline. In February 2007, she launched the first time in the freestyle skiing World Cup. In the Freestyle World Championships 2007 in Madonna di Campiglio she reached the tenth place. Already on her third World Cup races she succeeded in January 2008 with the second place in the first ski cross podium. Your first race she won in Les Contamines on 10 January 2009.

On 23 February 2010 Berntsen won at the Olympics, the silver medal in ski cross, behind the Canadian Ashleigh McIvor and before the French Marion Josserand. This success was somewhat surprising, since she had never been better 19 in the current World Cup season. At the Winter X Games Berntsen won the silver medal each in the years 2006 and 2012.
