Heike Popel

Heike Popel (* 1961) is a former luger the GDR, which was launched for the SC tractor Oberwiesenthal.

The national Luge Championships of the German Democratic Republic in 1982, she won the gold medal in Upper Wiesenthal before Anke boogers. Two years later she was in Olang Italian Vice European Champion behind Monika Auer and before the third-place Cerstin Schmidt. She was previously Spartakiade 1975 champion and 1979 and 1980 DDR junior champion. In addition, they won in the season 1980/1981 a World Cup race on the ice rink in Koenigssee.
