Heinrich II. von Rotteneck

Henry II of Rotteneck († July 26, 1296 ) was bishop of Regensburg from 1277 to 1296.

Henry II of Rotteneck descended from the Counts of the Rotteneck. Name -giving village is Rottenegg. He was the last of his race. Josef Staber called as parents of Henry II, Count Meinhard of Rotteneck and his wife Beatrix, born Countess of Moosburg. His sister was the mother of Eichstätt Bishop Konrad II of Pfeffenhausen.

Henry II was involved in the conflict south of the high pin. Several times he stepped between the estranged brothers Wittelsbach Ludwig II and Henry XIII. as a peace broker.

He sponsored the construction of the Gothic cathedral and donated several gifts to the Cathedral (see also Diocese of Regensburg Museums ). He also started the construction of the Sanctuary Bogenberg. These construction activities were but sluggish, because the main concern of Henry II was the removal of the debt burden of the high pin. Henry II but also invested in the development of castles, which he financed with the sale of its private property, the county Rotteneck.
