Heinz Winckler

Heinz Winckler (born 22 March 1978 in Stellenbosch, South Africa; actually Heinz Carl Heinrich Winckler ) is a South African singer. 2002 he was the winner of the first season of Idols, the South African version of Pop Idol.

Before beginning his career as a singer Winckler studied law at the University of Stellenbosch.

Winckler's debut single Once In A Lifetime reached double platinum status in South Africa. In the South African Music Awards he was nominated for two awards: Once In A Lifetime for Best Single of the Year and One Step Closer than Best Album of the Year.

From the Walt Disney Company, he was invited to the theme song for the film Chasing Shadows to sing Treasure Planet.

In December 2003, he became the international television World Idol competition in which the winners of all hosted at Pop Idol competitions competed against each other, fourth.

Since 2006, Heinz is married to Alette de Klerk.
