Helen Eadie

Helen Stirling Eadie ( born March 7, 1947 in Stenhousemuir, † November 9, 2013 in Dunfermline ) was a British politician and member of the Labour Party.

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Helen Eadie won the direct mandate of their constituency Dunfermline East and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 Eadie defended her constituency each with a significantly higher by at least 16 % votes before the changing of the candidate SNP. As part of the constituency reform of 2011, the constituency of Dunfermline East was abolished and went on in the new constituencies Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath. At the 2011 parliamentary elections they therefore went to the constituency of Cowdenbeath and won it with a total of 11,925 votes ( 46.5 %) by a margin of 4.9 % before the candidate SNP, Ian Chisholm. This Eadie won for the Labour Party is the only constituency in the election Region Mid Scotland and Fife. All other constituencies went to the SNP.

Career

Eadie attended Larbert High School in neighboring Larbert. They then went to the Falkirk Technical College and later at the London School of Economics, where she graduated with a degree in the economic sphere. In the 1970s, Eadie worked for the Scottish House of Representatives Harry Ewing, Baron Ewing of Kirk Ford and Alex Eadie, her father. Between 1976 and 1984 Helen Eadie was in full-time working for the GMB union, then for the regional government of Fife. Here, she was active in the areas of equality and transport. During her time in the Scottish Parliament Eadie dealt with the topics of transport and the environment, health and sports. Since the 2011 election, she worked in the field of European and international issues.

End of October 2013, cancer was found in her, she succumbed at a hospital in Dunfermline on 9 November 2013. Helen Eadie was married and mother of two daughters.
