Hélène Swarth

Hélène Swarth, actually Stephanie Hélène Swarth ( born October 25, 1859 in Amsterdam, † 20 June 1941 in Velp, Gelderland ) was a Dutch writer.

Life

Swarth was the daughter of the businessman Eduard Swarth and his wife Maria Jacoba Heijblom. She was born in Amsterdam and spent her childhood and youth in Brussels.

1894 she married in Mechelen their colleagues, the Dutch writer Frits Lapidoth ( 1861-1932 ); the marriage lasted until 1910.

By his own admission, the French writer Alphonse de Lamartine was one of her role models. At the suggestion and with the support of the writer Pol de Mont Swarth could successfully debut.

At the age of 82 years Hélène Swarth died on 20 June 1941 in Velp and found their final resting place.

Honors

In her honor, the municipalities Hillegom and Oegstgeest ( South Holland ) and Uithoorn ( North Holland ), and the cities of Groningen and Den Bosch named streets after Hélène Swarth.
