Hélio Gonçalves Heleno

Hélio Gonçalves Heleno ( born May 18, 1935 in Cipotânea, Minas Gerais, Brazil; † 4 September 2012 in Caratinga ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Caratinga.

Life

Hélio Gonçalves studied philosophy (1955 /57) and theology (1958 /61) at St. Joseph Seminary in Mariana and received on 3 December 1961 in the Mariana ordination.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 27 November 1978 Bishop of Caratinga. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Mariana, Oscar de Oliveira, on February 22, 1979 in Rio Pombal; Co-consecrators were José Goncalves Heleno, Bishop of Governador Valadares, and his predecessor José Corrêa Eugênio, retired bishop of Caratinga. His episcopal motto was " Propter Regnum Dei " (Because of the kingdom of God ). He was involved in the Regional Council for the Laity cnbb ( Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais ) and was a member of the Committee of the Pastoral in the Regional Episcopal Conference.

His resignation was on 16 February 2011 by Pope Benedict XVI. granted.
