Hemisilurus mekongensis

Hemisilurus is a genus of fish belonging to the family of the Real catfish ( Siluridae ), which includes three species occurring in South East Asia.

Features

The fish are 50 to 80 cm long and have an elongated body without back and with elongated anal fin. The muzzle is short, with inferior mouth and a short foot column. The eyes are the posterior nostril. The barbels on the upper jaw are long and flexible. The pelvic fins have eight or fewer rays.

System

The genus includes three species:

  • Hemisilurus heterorhynchus
  • Hemisilurus mekongensis
  • Hemisilurus moolenburghi
