Henri Ernest Baillon

Henri Ernest Baillon ( born November 30, 1827 in Calais, † July 18, 1895 in Paris) was a French botanist and physician. Baillon was director of the botanical garden of Paris. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Baill. ".

In 1867 he was appointed a member of the Legion of Honour. Baillon in 1894 was chosen as the " Foreign Member " of the Royal Society. The plant genus Baillonia Bocq. ex Baill. was named after him.

For the Flora brasiliensis by Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius he wrote the chapter on " Dichapetaleae " in Volume 12 No. 1 of 1886.
