Henri Jordan

Heinrich " Henri " Jordan ( born September 30, 1833 in Berlin, † November 10, 1886 in Königsberg ) was a German philologist and university professor.

Jordan studied from 1852 to 1856 at the Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Bonn and the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin. In Berlin, he worked as a school official candidate at the Friedrich Werder Gymnasium. Easter 1861 he habilitated there was half the studies in the fall of 1861 to Easter 1863 in Italy and in 1867 full professor of classical philology at the Albertus University of Königsberg. 1875/76 he was rector of the Albertina. He worked closely with Christian sleeves and Rodolfo Lanciani. His main work is the 1870 to 1885 published in two volumes topography of the city of Rome in ancient times.

Henri Jordan was married to Anna Droysen (1842-1918), daughter of the historian Johann Gustav Droysen.

Jordan got the 3rd edition of Ludwig Preller Roman mythology (Berlin 1881).
