Henri Pons de Thiard de Bissy

Henri Pons de Thiard de Bissy ( born May 25, 1657 Pierre -de- Bresse, † July 26, 1737 in Paris) was a cardinal and bishop of Toul, and Meaux.

He studied theology in Paris and was elected on March 10, 1687 to the Prince-Bishop of Toul. Because of the ongoing tensions between Rome and King Louis XIV, his election was not confirmed until 1692. In 1698 he was appointed Archbishop of Bordeaux, which he refused, however. In contrast, he agreed with a transfer to the See of Meaux on 9 February 1705. In 1714 he was also abbot of the Abbey of Saint- Germain -des- Prés. In the consistory of May 29, 1715 he was replaced by Pope Clement XI. taken as a cardinal with the title church of San Bernardo alle Terme in the College of Cardinals.
