Henri Rinck

Henri Rinck ( born January 10, 1870 in Lyon, † February 17, 1952 in Badalona) was a French composer and chess endgame theoretician.

Life

Rinck was a pharmacist or chemist. He worked in Barcelona and often traveled to Lyon, as he had there with his two brothers shares in a cafe. Rinck moved sometime after Badalona, where he lived until his death. He was buried along with his book in 1414 Fins de partie.

Composition

Rinck composed over 1500 studies. His life's work, in 1414 Fins de partie, was released six days before his death, and contains nearly all of his studies. Rinck studies are characterized by substantial correctness. The accuracy of the analyzes was achieved by joint review in the chess club. Proved to a study to be incorrect, so Rinck often spent weeks with their improvement. Only when he had a correct position found or was convinced that the piece was not to repair, this work was discontinued. Rinck knew many of his studies with in-depth analysis in order to verify their correctness.

Rinck transferred successfully topics from the composition of chess problems on studies. So he composed studies with line combinations and steering systems, such as the Indian theme, the Grimshaw and the Plachutta. However, many of its material studies did not get beyond a certain mechanical play. Often, these lack an invigorating counterplay of black.

Rinck admired Johann Berger and felt an aversion to Alexei Troitsky, he verbally attacked on many occasions. Other composers, he did not admire.

André Cheron held Rinck for the best endgame composers in the world.
