Henry of Stolberg-Wernigerode

Count Stolberg- Wernigerode to Henrich (* September 25, 1772 at Schloss Wernigerode, † February 16, 1854 ibid ) was followed in 1824 succeeded his father as ruler of the county of Wernigerode.

Family

Count Henrich was the eldest son of Count Christian of Stolberg- Wernigerode Friedrich (1746-1824) and Countess Auguste Eleonore of Stolberg- Stolberg ( 1748-1821 ). He comes from the noble family of the Counts of Stolberg.

On August 4, 1799, he married his first wife Princess Jenny von Schoenburg - Waldenburg (4 October 1780-29. August 1809 ). On December 30, 1810, he married his second wife, Baroness Eberhardine of the stretch (25 January 1785-24. October 1852 ), the daughter of the Prussian State Minister Eberhard of the stretch.

One of his grandchildren was Prince Otto zu Stolberg - Wernigerode.

Life

Henrich zu Stolberg - Wernigerode was educated by private tutors and studied until 1790 ( with an interruption in 1789 by the revolutionary turmoil ) in Strasbourg. He then continued his studies in Göttingen. He then devoted himself to the management of his estates. After the efforts to prevent the mediatization of his house under the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss circuit failed, he put himself at the side of Napoleon and was in the Kingdom of Westphalia equerry. 1808 to 1813 he was a member of the States of the Kingdom of Westphalia.

Under the General Government in 1813 he was District President of Osterwieck. Count Henrich took the whole house Stolberg Congress of Vienna.

In 1825 he was a member of the Prussian State Council. 1825 to 1854 he was a member of the Saxon county council. 1847 to 1848 he was a member of the United Diet. From 1824 to 1854 he ruled over the county of Wernigerode in the district of Magdeburg of the Prussian Province of Saxony. He was a hereditary nobleman as a member of the first chamber stands in the Kingdom of Hanover and the Grand Duchy of Hesse. Count Henrich was a canon of Halberstadt, Knight of the Royal Prussian Black Eagle and Order of St. John.

In 1853 he bought the house breaking. After the Count Henrich Henrichshütte was named in Hattingen, which became operational in the year he died.
