Christian Frederick of Stolberg-Wernigerode

Count Christian Frederick of Stolberg- Wernigerode ( born January 8, 1746 Wernigerode Castle, † May 26 1824 in Peterswaldau ) followed in 1778 succeeded his father as ruler of the county of Wernigerode.

Life

Count Christian Friedrich was the only son of Count Heinrich Ernst zu Stolberg - Wernigerode and Princess Anna of Anhalt- Köthen. He comes from the noble family of the Counts of Stolberg.

During his studies in Halle ( Saale) from 1764 to 1767, he was admitted to the three swords as a Freemason in the lodge, in the summer of 1767, he received in the Leipzig lodge the fourth and later the fifth grade.

Count Christian Friedrich was dean until 1796 to Halberstadt and provost to Walbeck, Knight of the Royal Prussian Red (1797 ) and the Black Eagle (1803 ) and Order of St. John. The accolade for St. John was in 1790 by August Ferdinand Prince of Prussia.

The count was, inter alia, with the poet Anna Louisa Karsch and the poet Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Gleim friends.

Heritage

On June 8, 1765 he gave his mother, Count Johann Erdmann von Promnitz, the gentlemen Peterswaldau, Jannowitz and Kreppelhof in Silesia uncle. By Foundation of 18 December 1815, he left as Spezialfideikommiss and primogeniture, Peterswaldau his second eldest son of Count Ferdinand, Jannowitz his third oldest son of Count Konstantin Kreppelhof and his youngest son, Count Anton. They founded the Silesian branch of Stolberg- Wernigerode family who were resident there until the expulsion of 1945. Owner of the county of Wernigerode was the eldest son of Henrich.

Progeny

He was married to Countess Auguste Eleonore of Stolberg- Stolberg (* January 10, 1748, † December 12, 1821 ) daughter of Count Christoph Ludwig of Stolberg- Stolberg. The couple had the following children:
