Henry, Prince of Nassau-Dillenburg

Henry of Nassau- Dillenburg ( born August 28, 1641 Dillenburg, † April 18, 1701 at Castle Ludwig Brunn ) was Prince of Nassau- Dillenburg. He was the son of Georg Ludwig of Nassau- Dillenburg (1618-1656) and his wife Anna Auguste of Brunswick (* December 17, 1612, † June 9, 1673 ), daughter of Count Heinrich Julius of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel wolves.

Life

He studied at the high school in Herborn, which then was under his government enjoyed a special recovery, and in France. He was then commander in Dutch services. Since his father died before his grandfather Ludwig Heinrich von Nassau- Dillenburg in 1662 he inherited the dominion of Dillenburg and after the death of his uncle Adolf ( 1629-1676 ) and the title. His rule is unspectacular but competent. He tried unsuccessfully to follow the legacy of his father Georg von Liegnitz - Brieg. In government his sons Wilhelm and later Christian follow.

Family

He married on October 13, 1663 Dorothea Elisabeth ( * December 17, 1646, † June 9, 1691 ), daughter of Duke Georg von Liegnitz. The couple had the following children:
