Henry VII of Brzeg

Henry VIII of Brzeg and Legnica, called the scratch (* 1344, † July 11, 1399 ), was from 1381 to 1399 Duke of Lubin and 1398-1399 Duke of Brieg. He came from the family of the Silesian Piast dynasty. He received his nickname by a wound at the imperial court in 1373rd

Origin and family

Henry's parents were Duke Ludwig I of Liegnitz and Brieg and Agnes († 1362 ), daughter of Duke Henry IV († 1342 ) of Glogau and Sagan.

1379 Henry VIII married his second wife Margaret, widow of the Duke Casimir IV of Pomerania, the daughter of the Duke Ziemowit III. was of Mazovia. This marriage produced children

Life

Henry VIII grew at the Prague court of Emperor Charles IV on, in whose records he is attested from 1360. He spent most of his life in the service of the Luxembourg rulers, most recently as chancellor of King Wenceslas IV in 1381 was assigned to him by his father Lüben, he chose as his residence. After the death of his father in 1398, he followed this as Duke of Brieg, but died a year later.
