Henry W. Livingston

Henry Walter Livingston (* 1768 in Linlithgo, New York, † December 22, 1810 at Linlithgo, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1803 and 1807, he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Henry Walter Livingston, son of Walter Livingston (1740-1797), grew up during the British colonial period. 1786, he graduated from Yale College. He studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in New York City. Between 1792 and 1794, he worked as a private secretary to Governor Morris, who was then Minister (Minister Plenipotentiary ) in Paris (First French Republic ). Livingston was a judge at the Court of Common Pleas in Columbia County. He sat in the years 1802 and 1810 in the New York State Assembly. Politically, he was a member of the Federalist Party. In the congressional elections of 1802 for the 8th Congress Livingston was in the eighth election district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Killian Van Rensselaer on March 4, 1803. He was re-elected once and then retired after the March 3, 1807 from the Congress of. On December 22, 1810, he died at Linlithgo.
