Herbert Bevard

Herbert Armstrong Bevard ( born February 24, 1946 in Baltimore) is Bishop of Saint Thomas.

Life

He converted in June 1964 of Presbyterianism to the Roman Catholic Church. The archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal John Joseph Krol, ordained him a priest on 20 May 1972. In 2003 he was appointed Monsignor.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on July 7, 2008 for the Bishop of Saint Thomas. The Archbishop of Washington, Donald Wuerl William, donated him on 3 September of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Joseph Edward Kurtz, Archbishop of Louisville, and Daniel Edward Thomas, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia.
