Herbert Zimmermann (footballer)

Herbert Zimmermann ( born July 1, 1954 in Engers ) is a former German football player.

Career

Clubs

After his youth when FV Engers 07 Zimmermann received in 1972 a professional contract at the Bundesliga Bayern Munich. In two seasons, the attacker came only two appearances: On March 24, 1973 ( 26 Matchday) he was in a 5-1 victory in the home match against VfB Stuttgart in the 46th minute for Franz Krauthausen and on 3 November 1973 ( 14th Round ) 1-0 win in the away game against VfL Bochum on as a substitute in the 65th minute for Wilhelm Hoffmann.

At the beginning of the season 1974/75 he moved to the 1 FC Cologne in which he nevertheless came to 15 appearances in the first season. His first Bundesliga goal on 28 September 1974 ( 6th Round ) in the 72nd minute meant the 1-1 draw with Hertha BSC. From the 1975/76 season (until 1983 /84) he was 187 times exclusively as a defender for the Billy Goats in, scoring another 21 goals, only eight in the season 1978 / 79th He had on December 9, 1983 ( 17th Round ), as his club Bayer 04 Leverkusen lost with 1:2 His last Bundesliga appearance.

1988 Herbert Zimmermann was active for a few months even for SpVgg Bad Homburg in the Oberliga Hessen.

National

Zimmermann played six times for the B- team; on April 26, 1977, he denied in Aachen in a 2-1 victory over the selection of Belgium its first international match. In the same year, followed by matches against the national teams of Jamaica, Czechoslovakia and Italy. 1980 was followed by two internationals.
