Herbst in Peking

Autumn in Beijing was established in 1987 as a band of Rex Joswig in Berlin (East). Beside him, the guitarist Alexander Istschenko, bassist Hans Tomato ( Mircea Dan Ionascu ), the drummer and Dr. Benno Verch dead Höfer ( Torsten Ratheischak ) played on the keyboard. The formation belonged to the " other bands ", the critical, brought their own viewpoints expressed opposition to the official cultural policy. The name refers to a book title by Boris Vian. Due to possible copyright problems, the abbreviation " hip" used in official correspondence. The stage program offered a grotesque parody of the cult of personality of Russian, Chinese and Romanian embossing. After the massacre at Tiananmen Square in Beijing (July 1989) the band has been removed from the permit appearance shortly before a benefit concert for UNICEF in Kleinmachnow. The song " Bakschischrepublik " became the turning point, the anthem of the GDR - rock scene. At this time, the band founded their own record label, Beijing Records.

Band founder and singer Rex Joswig moderated in the 1990s in DT64 (later " MDR Sputnik "), the extraordinary mission limit point zero, which also attained cult status. Autumn in Beijing were in this and the following period only sporadically on stage, mostly in small clubs in Berlin. Back in 2008, work began on a new album, whose plays are presented on a tour of several cities in eastern Germany in the first third of 2010.
