The Florianópolis airport is the largest of the three airports in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, located on the island of Ilha de Santa Catarina and is part of the metropolitan area of ​​Florianópolis.

History

On September 7, 1922, the airport was founded for military purposes. In 1934 landed on a grass runway, the first airliner from Rio de Janeiro. By 1955, the airport had a tower of wood, a 1500 m long and 45 m wide concrete runway, a yard of grass for the parking of aircraft and a 1952-1954 built terminal for passengers. After 1955, the airport was repeatedly extended and modernized. Such was, for example, on 29 January 1976, the inauguration of a cargo terminal on the program. In 1976 started a second runway to pour, which was put into operation on 1 August 1978. 1995 also the passenger building was air-conditioned.

Traffic

The airport is currently being regularly associated with various national and international destinations on the South American continent in scheduled service. Airlines are, for example, Azul, Gol Transportes Aéreos, Varig, Avianca and TAM Linhas Aéreas.
