Heriberto Correa Yepes

Heriberto Correa Yepes MXY ( born August 6, 1916 in Cedeno; † 9 September 2010 in Medellín, Colombia ) was the Apostolic Vicar of Buenaventura.

Life

Heriberto Correa Yepes joined in 1928 the Congregation of the Missionaries Javerianos de Yarumal for and received on 12 November 1939, the ordination. Correa Yepes worked for the diocesan curia dss Archdiocese of Barranquilla and professor at the Seminario Conciliar San Luis Beltran (Barranquilla ), and later the Prefect. Pope Pius XII. appointed him on 27 March 1953 to the Apostolic Prefect of Mitú. Correa Yepes was a Council Father of the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council. In 1966 he was elected Superior General of the Missionaries Javerianos de Yarumal.

Paul VI. appointed him on 29 January 1973 Vicar Apostolic of Buenaventura and Titular Bishop of CasaE nigrae. The Archbishop of Bogotá, Aníbal Muñoz Duque Cardinal, donated to him on 27 March of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Jesús Emilio Jaramillo Monsalve MXY, Vicar Apostolic of Arauca, and Gustavo Posada Peláez MXY, Vicar Apostolic of Istmina.

30 November 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related. He died as a result of a fall in his home in Emmaus House in Medellin.
