Heřmanov (Děčín District)

Heřmanov ( German Hermersdorf ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers south-east of Decin and belongs to Okres Decin.

Geography

The three-kilometer long Waldhufendorf Heřmanov extends to the north of the Bohemian Uplands from the Ploučnicetal along the creek Fojtovický Potok ( Erlenbach ) in south-western direction up to Fojtovice. To the north rises the Sokolský vrch (333 m), in the northeast of Ostry (300 m ) southeast of the Kohout ( Krohberg, 589 m), in the south of Klobouk ( 539 m ) west of the Jedlova (491 m) and in the northwest region the Hlídka ( Hutberg, 480 m).

Neighboring towns are Benešov nad Ploučnicí in the north, Mlatce, Bedřichov, Terezinske Údolí Františkov nad Ploučnicí in the east, Valkeřice the southeast, Blankartice in the south, Fojtovice, Babetin and Ptačí the southwest, Lesná and Velka Veleň in the west and Malá Veleň, Jedlka and Eliščino Údolí in the northwest.

History

Probably named after a locator Hermann place was first mentioned in 1273 under the name Hermanesdorp. In 1409 the village was known as Villa Hermanni. 1550 originated in the small valley one kilometers west of the settlement situated Flütlhäusel. Its founders are said to have miners who dug there for silver. The Berni rula from 1654 has made ​​43 property for the village. 1691 Hermersdorf had 360 inhabitants. In 1833 lived 487 people in 93 houses of Hermersdorf.

After the abolition of patrimonial Hermersdorf formed with the district Flietelhäusel, which was known as Little Hermersdorf, 1850 a municipality in the district team Tetschen. The inhabitants lived mainly from agriculture and the crafts. 1890, the village had 785 inhabitants and 1930 there were 760, most of whom were German. After the Munich Agreement in 1938 the community was added to the German Reich and belonged until 1945 to the district Tetschen, from 1943 Děčín. 1939 the community had 696 inhabitants. In 1945 Hermersdorf back to Czechoslovakia, the German inhabitants were expelled. The village was renamed in 1946 Heřmanov and populated with Czechs. The settlement Flietelhäusel remained deserted and was demolished. In 1961, the incorporation of Blankartice and Fojtovice.

In Heřmanov today there is a primary school and a kindergarten.
