Herta Foods

The Herta GmbH is a German company in the meat industry and an umbrella brand for their products. The company is based in Herten ( Westphalia ) and is a subsidiary of the Nestlé Group. She specializes in self-service products.

History

The company was founded in 1897 by Louis and Hermione Schweisfurth as a small butcher shop in Herten. Soon branches were opened. 1902, the first factory was put into operation.

After the Second World War, the descendant, the company founder Karl Ludwig Schweisfurth, the company made gradually to a European meat processing company. For the 50th year anniversary 1947 " Herta " was introduced as a new brand for the company and as a hallmark of his sausages. The following year, a cooling quick- service was introduced for delivery to the stores and retail partners. 1953 offered a Dortmund branch to the first packaged fresh sausage range of self-service, although hardly a household at that time already had a fridge. Starting in 1964, the company has spread to other European countries, first through exports to France, then acquisition of production facilities in the country. This was followed by market entry in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and the UK.

In 1984, Karl Ludwig Schweisfurth applied by the factory farming from, sold the company and founded in Upper Bavaria, the organic farmer Herrmann Landwerkstätten and Schweisfurth Foundation. Since 1987, Herta is a 100 % owned subsidiary of the Swiss food company Nestlé.

  • Germany: Herten, New Churches, Berlin
  • France: Saint- Pol-sur -Ternoise, Barbezieux, Illkirch, cheeks (Bas -Rhin)
