Hessian cuisine

The Hessian cuisine was like all traditional cuisines depending on the season.

The Hessian cuisine is very diverse, as each region has its own courts. So is the North Hessian cuisine of the Thuringian cuisine not unlike, and in southern Hesse we find the influence of the Rheinhessen and Franconian cuisine again. In Mittelhessen especially heavy savory dishes ( home cooking) are on the menu.

Very typical of Hesse are dishes based on potatoes and bread. Much like the Italian pizza there is a sandwich for lunch and Hefekuchenvarianten ( Ploatz, quiches, onion ), which were mitgebacken equal to bake bread.
