Heterobranchus longifilis

Heterobranchus is occurring in Africa genus of fish belonging to the family of the branchial sac catfish ( Clariidae ). Heterobranchus species occur in tropical Africa south of the Sahara and the Nile before.

Features

They have a streamlined torpedo shaped body, a flattened head and dorsoventral body reach lengths of 64 cm to 1.5 meters. Dorsal and anal fins are long, the pectoral fins have a powerful sting ray. The pelvic fins have a narrow fin base. In contrast to similar external gills bag genus of catfish Clarias Heterobranchus the species have a well-developed, long dorsal fin. Around the mouth Bartel four pairs are arranged. Premaxilla and vomer are busy with ribbon-shaped teeth arranged.
