Hibla Gerzmava

Chibla Lewarsowna Gersmawa (Russian Хибла Леварсовна Герзмава; born January 6, 1970 in Pizunda, Abkhaz ASSR ) is an Abkhaz- Russian opera singer in the vocal range soprano. International her name is specified in the notation Hibla Gerzmava. Since 1995 she has been a soloist at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich -Danchenko Musical Theatre in Moscow.

Life and career

Chibla Gersmawa was born in Abkhaz Pizunda, then went to Moscow where she successfully completed a course of study at the Conservatory in 1994. In 1995 she received a permanent engagement as a soloist at the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirovich - Danchenko Music Theatre and performed since then including in the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila, The Barber of Seville, Die Fledermaus, Lucia di Lammermoor and The Golden Cockerel.

In 2002 and 2003 she was listening to the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival among others as Eve in Haydn's The Creation.

Besides performances followed at the Saint Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre, later Gersmawa toured international opera houses. She had guest performances at the Bavarian State Opera, the New York Metropolitan Opera, Opéra National de Paris and at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

In 2002 she was honored as " Honoured Artist of Russia", 2006 " People's Artist of Abkhazia ", 2012 she was awarded the " People's Artist of Russia".
