High School for the Performing and Visual Arts

The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts ( or: HSPVA ) is a high school (Houston Independent School District ), which was built in 1971 in Houston / Texas. It was built where previously the Congregation Beth Israel stood. 1981 the school moved into the 4001 Stanford Street, where the former Montrose Elementary School stood.

In the 1990s, the school moved into the downtown area of ​​the city. In 2005, the school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. There were plans to build a new building district, which includes a theater for 2000 spectators, faculties and a recording studio, but the project in 2007 was rejected.

Classification

The school includes grades 9 to 12 and is divided into five artistic fields. These are instrumental music, singing, dancing, drama and the visual arts. Shortly before each end of the semester, students have the obligation to prepare a portfolio in which they have to provide, among others, the area in which you want to be informed in the next semester.
