The HMS Bulwark ( ID: L15 ) is the second amphibious landing ship (LPD ) of the Albion class of the Royal Navy. It is the seventh ship of that name, and replaced with her sister ship HMS Albion HMS Intrepid and the landing ships HMS Fearless from the 1960s.

History

Middle of the 1990s the Royal Navy needed a replacement for its outdated landing ships of the Fearless class. 1996 within the Department of Defense the arms company BAE Systems a contract for the construction of two larger and more powerful ships. In January 2000 the Bulwark was laid on Kiel, in November 2001, the launch took place. It was finally officially entered service on 10 December 2004. In July of the following year she participated in the International Fleet Review in the Solent in part. Her first major use was followed in early 2006, when it was used as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Horn of Africa. Then she took on the role of the flagship of the Royal Navy in the Persian Gulf for three months. While she was on the way back to England, broke in July 2006 from the Lebanon war between Israel and Lebanon. As part of Operation Highbrow they evacuated on July 20, 1300 British citizens from Beirut.

2009 was the flagship of the multinational exercise Bulwark Taurus. The ship should change in 2016 from the current standby status for High Readiness Reserve fleet readiness and remain in an Extended Readiness.
