HMS Talent (P337)

HMS Talent ( P337 ) [A 1] (HMS Tasman ( P337 ) ) was a submarine of the British Royal Navy.

Service history

P337 was laid on March 21, 1944 at Vickers Armstrong in Barrow in Kiel. The submarine ran on 13 February 1945 under the originally planned name HMS Tasman from the stack. In April 1945, the boat was renamed HMS Talent [A 2] and put into service on 27 July 1945. The first commander was Lieutenant Commander Richard Molyneux Favell. Due to the late commissioning learned the submarine no more combat.

The Royal Navy put the submarine one until 1966. During this time it had two serious accidents. On December 15, 1954 HMS Talent got into distress when it was stripped at the flooding of a dry dock in Chatham. The driving boat was secured due to the heavy Seeganges and the dense fog until the following day. In the accident four sailors were killed. The damaged submarine was overhauled in 1955. On 8 May 1956, the U- boat off the Isle of Wight was damaged again when emerging in a collision.

HMS Talent was scrapped in 1970 in Troon.
