The Hochgern is a mountain in Unterwoessen or Marquartstein in the Bavarian district of Traunstein with a height of 1748 meters above sea level. He rises above the Chiemsee lake and is one of the Chiemgau Alps, a subset of the Bavarian Alps.

Routes to the summit

The normal

This usually committed, light and popular with mountain bikers and trail starts in Marquartstein and leads on a forest road in an hour to the serviced Agergschwendalm. From the South

From there starts on a forest road the little committed, but marked rise. Initially, at the White Achen along the path leads steadily rising at a ravine over after Eschelmoos. From there, a farm road leads to Hinteralm. From here it goes through a sometimes steep and rocky trail to Bischofsfellnalm ( 1389 m). After a short flat stage, the path leads steeply to the crest of the Hochgern. To top it goes steadily uphill initially by a grove, and finally to a narrow path on the steep grassy slopes. After about three hours of walking time you will be rewarded at the summit cross on a clear day with a wonderful view. This tour is suitable for experienced hikers with proper equipment, such as sturdy shoes ( hiking boots ), hiking sticks and sufficient condition.
