Marquartstein

Marquartstein is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein and the seat of the administrative community Marquartstein. The municipality consists of the villages Piesenhausen, Pettendorf and low rock. Marquartstein is a tourist, also due to the fairytale park Marquartstein.

Geography

Geographical Location

Marquartstein located in the Chiemgau about 10 km south of Lake Chiemsee, in the valley of Tiroler Achen. The river divides the city into two halves. To the east lies Old Marquartstein Marquartstein with the castle on the other side are the parish church of the Holy Blood and the town hall. The two districts are connected by two bridges.

Approximately at the height of Marquartstein the Achen valley opens in the north.

History

The foundation of the castle Marquartstein falls in the year 1075th Marquartstein was before 1803 the seat of a Bavarian Pflegamts. 1803 was the repeal of the Pfleggerichts Marquartstein and inclusion in the district court of Traunstein. 1884 was the construction of the local railway Overseas Marquartstein, one of the most profitable of Bavaria was due to the cement factory of George Pfann and its schnellbindendem cement product " Egerndach Roman". The very dilapidated old Wittelsbach care Marquartstein castle was in 1857 sold to private and built by Cajetan Freiherr von Tautphoeus again. On April 1, 1938 Marquartstein became an independent municipality, which was formed from parts of the communities Grassau, Schleching and Unterwoessen and forestry districts Marquartstein and Piesenhausen. In 1962, the three villages Niedernfels, Pettendorf and Piesenhausen were umgemeindet of the village of Grassau in the community Marquartstein. Since 1978, the municipalities jam -Egerndach and Marquartstein form an administrative community based in Marquartstein.

The nearest motorway is the A8 Munich -Salzburg. Some transit brings the B 305 Bernau - Marquartstein - Reit im Winkl that runs through the village in the middle.

The nearest railway station is overseas on the railway line Rosenheim and Salzburg. The railway Overseas Marquartstein was operated from 1885 to 1992, passenger until 1968. The station building was demolished in Marquartstein 2000.

The transport service in public transport is carried out today by the bus lines 9505 ( Reit im Winkl - Marquartstein - Prien ), 9508 ( Marquartstein - Bergen ) and 9509 ( Reit im Winkl - Marquartstein - Overseas - Traunstein ) of the DB subsidiary Regional Oberbayern.

Established businesses

In addition to numerous craft shops, tourist facilities, such as the double chair -lift on the high board and the fairy-tale theme park (both in Lower Rock ), numerous dining establishments as well as inns and restaurants, is at the site and a medium-sized costume fashion companies resident. A still not inconsiderable economic factor in the rural environment of the region is the long-established Chiemgau clinic in the district Geisenhausen, formerly spa facility of the German Railways, today the " German Pension Insurance for Miners - Bahn-See ".

Educational institutions

Importance acquired the small place primarily through its schools. In addition to the primary school in Marquartstein and the private Francis de Sales - Home Primary School in Lower Rock Castle there is south of the county town of Traunstein only here a secondary school and a high school, the State Landschulheim Marquartstein with associated boarding.

Structures

The historic castle Marquartstein from the year 1075, built by knights Marquart II is after a complete renovation in the 1990s, privately owned by the Munich art dealer Konrad O. Bernheimer ( not open to visitors).

The Gasthof zur Post Hofwirth is considered one of the oldest inns in the entire Chiemgau and was extensively renovated a few years ago. The composer Richard Strauss to have been a regular guest here.

The Hochplattenbahn is a 1973 erbauter 1330 meter long double chairlift climbs from its ancient 560 meters above sea level Marquartstein valley station to the mountain station on the high board in 1110 meters altitude. The Hochplattenbahn was built by Doppelmayr and has 17 columns.

Grab The church already built about 1637 is situated in 1116 m altitude on the Schnappenberg.
