Geography

Location

Schleching is located in the Chiemgau, especially in Achen valley south of Lake Chiemsee. It is located in the wide Achen valley, surrounded by high mountains. These include above all the high board, the Hochgern and Blumenberg of Achen Valley with its nature reserve, the Geigelstein.

Neighboring municipalities are in the north and Grassau Marquartstein, in the east Unterwoessen, Aschau in the west and in the south Kössen ( Austria ).

History

In deeds of gift of the monasteries Baumburg at the Old Market, and St. Peter in Salzburg, Salzburg and by the chapter from the period 1122 to 1147 the place Slehingin is mentioned for the first time. As unfree peasants most were until the early 19th century basic subjects of the Duke of Bavaria and Archbishop of Salzburg with its cathedral chapter. Sovereign has always been the Bavarian duke.

Ecclesiastical Schleching in 1709 to the curacy and 1921 was raised an independent parish.

On April 1, 1938 parts of the territory were ceded to the new community Marquartstein.

Traffic

The nearest motorway is the A8 motorway between Salzburg ( Austria ) and Munich. You can reach Schleching on the slopes Bernau ( from the west, Munich) or Grabenstatt ( from the east, Salzburg). The nearest airports are Munich (approx. 100 km) and Salzburg (approx. 65 km), both with rail connection. Nearest railway stations are located in Bernau am Chiemsee, Overseas am Chiemsee Prien am Chiemsee and on the main line from Munich to Salzburg. From there, with the following bus services to Schleching:

  • From station overseas with the RVO bus line 9509 to Schleching or
  • From Railway Station Prien with the RVO bus line 9505 towards Reit im Winkl, change to Marquartstein, direction Schleching.
