Chieming

Chieming is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein. It is located on the eastern shore of Lake Chiemsee eponymous Chieminger on the bay and is a holiday and recreation resort.

Namesake for Chieming as well as the Chiemsee and the entire Chiemgau is the legend a Gaugraf " Chiemo " whose historical existence has never been proven, however.

Geography

Geographical location

Chieming lies in the planning region of southeastern Upper Bavaria in the Chiemgau. In the south of the site and in the district Chieming is the Pfeffersee, also called Pfaffersee.

History

Chieming has due to its location on the Roman military road Juvavum -Augusta Videlicorum (Salzburg -Augsburg ) probably Roman roots. A first secured documented proof was 790 in the Notitia Arnonis. Since at least 1211 Chieming parish seat was. The open Hofmark Chieming was until 1803 owned by the monastery Baumburg. As part of the government reorganization in Bavaria was Chieming municipality with the associated towns Anger, Außerlohen, Eglsee, Kleeham, Laimgrub, Pfaffing, Manholding, Schützing, Stöttham and Weidach. Cheb and Neubauer followed around 1850. Starting about 1870 Chieming has become an increasingly popular spa and resort.

Incorporations

In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, the former municipalities Hart and Ising came ( official name change on 30 October 1965 before tabing ) added on 1 January 1972. From the south, an area neighboring Oberhochstätt - Unterhochstätt the district Oberhochstätt came to Chieming.

Policy

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of 2662 T € in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted 636 T €.

Attractions

  • The parish church of the Assumption is a cross- vaulted hall building with a semicircular apse. It was built in 1882-1883 and 1891 to designs by the Munich architect Johann Margrave in the Romanesque Revival style. The driving force behind the new building was the local priest Conrad Korntheur. The demolition of the old church three Roman stones came to light, which today are in the tower basement. The same style interiors and murals designed by the architect Joseph Elsner and delivered from his Munich workshops. The altarpiece created in 1885 from Prince Max Reichenhall. The painting with SS. Sebastian and George on the south wall of the nave is from a former site of the altar and is 1663 by Ruprecht Schweindl from Altenmarkt signed.
  • The Farm At Karl from 1875 in the municipality part Thauernhausen is a three-storey Einfirsthof with large bulk soil for the grain on the top floor.

Economy, agriculture and forestry

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the field of Agriculture and Forestry 20, 317 in manufacturing and in trade and transport 204 persons work at the workplace.
