The Geigelstein is known the second highest peak of the Chiemgau Alps Bavarian soil and as Chiemgau Blumenberg and magnificent vantage point.

Location

The Geigelstein located between the Valley of Prien in the west and the Tiroler Ache in the east. In the north it is separated by the Dalsensenke of the Kamp wall. The southern border is the Austrian emperor angle at which the Walchsee. The area of ​​Mount Geigelstein is since 1991 a nature reserve. Since then a ski and thus several cable cars were planned on the mountain, it was mostly in Schleching to form a citizens' initiative that could reach to expel the mountain as a nature reserve. At the highest point of Mount Geigelstein are a mountain cross and a small chapel. The panoramic view is much praised and, on a clear autumn days to the Berchtesgaden Alps in the east, to the nearby Kaiser mountains and the Grossglockner in the south, to the Karwendel mountains in the west and to the Chiemsee lake in the north.

Routes to the summit

On the Geigelstein are countless hikers and in winter the ski touring and snowshoe hikers traveling in the summer. In winter there is some increased risk of avalanches on the steep slopes. From all the surrounding valleys primarily not a difficult routes lead to the summit:
