Hohenstein is a district of the city of Strausberg in Brandenburg district or Mark- land east of Berlin. In the city of Strausberg Hohenstein is a district within the meaning of § 45 BbgKVerf. Ruhlsdorf and Gladowshöhe are residential places in the district of Hohenstein. It has 494 inhabitants.

Geography and Transport

Hohenstein is located about six kilometers east of the main town of Strausberg. The area is undulating flat to moderate and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. It belongs to the moraine of the Barnim. Hohenstein marks the western entrance of Strausberg from the nature park märkische Switzerland. South of the village extends the nature reserve Ruhlsdorfer fraction, which is drained by the Lichtenower Mühlenfließ to Löcknitz. History

Village Church

The village church - the only monument in the city - at the northern end of the village green is a stone building from the 13th century.
