Hohentengen ( Diengen ) became the seat of a separate office and seat of the High Court. The Thingstätte the Göge was also in Hohentengen.

The name " Hohentengen " has undergone various changes over the centuries: Diengen ( 1272 ), Dyengen ( 1412 ), Hohentuengen ( 1469 ). Coat of arms

The coat of arms of Hohentengen shows in black held a upright, doppelschwänziger, red bezungter golden lion, with his front paws a red labels, is a silver bar.

The coat of arms was granted on November 6, 1682 by Emperor Leopold I to Ammann and court of Hohentengen.

The lion is the heraldic animal of the Habsburg emperors who were from 1273-1806 Emperor of the " Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation." The coat of arms, which holds the lion, the Austrian shield with the colors red-white - red. The county of Friedberg- Scheer, whose authority was subordinate to the Office Hohentengen, belonged to the Austrian front landing until it fell in 1806 to Württemberg.

The award of the coat of arms is related to the circumstances at that time. The vassals of the Office Hohentengen were constantly at odds with their government in Scheer for unjustified charges and actions against the vassals ( Hohentenger rebellion in 1591 ). In desperation, they sent envoys to the imperial court in Innsbruck, which was responsible for this space. Most recently, she even went to the imperial court in Vienna to erstreiten their rights. The dispute lasted around 120 years, with interruptions. Perhaps the emperor wanted the Count and Steward in Scheer show by the award of this coat of arms his power. In any case, the official will have the crest accepted only grudgingly in Scheer. Who doubted this coat of arms letter, had to pay 10 Mark Gold punishment.

However, the citizens' meetings also found years later almost exclusively held between the two sports clubs. By incorporations Hohentengen had about 4,000 inhabitants, Charensat only about 700 inhabitants. Mayor Franz Ott was looking for a way to put the partnership on a broader basis and found his proposal for a partnership extension the majority consensus among colleagues mayor of the canton of Saint- Gervais- d Auvergne.
