Holany

Holany ( German caves ) is a market town in Okres Ceska Lipa in the Liberec Region in the north of the Czech Republic. It is located on Holanský rybnik ( frank lake ) about nine kilometers southwest of Ceska Lipa ( Czech Lipa ). South of Holany extends the Daubaer Switzerland.

History

After the shape of the name itself Holany joins the oldest Slavic settlements in the district of Ceska Lipa. The first written mention is the mid-14th century, when Holany belonged to the salvors. Mid-15th century it came as part of the Rybnov goods in the possession of the Wartemberger. These nobles united in the 16th century by purchases the area around Ceska Lipa to the goods Nový zámek and had their seat at Castle Zahrádky.

Holany was a market center because of its convenient location. The sources refer to it as a town, even though the population was never much higher than 500. Its decline to a village began with the close of the markets after the construction of new roads at the beginning of the 19th century and was sealed by the fire in 1863. The inhabitants lived on small crafts, agriculture, mainly hops for export, fish farming and fruit growing.

Outstanding in the history of the place is the peasant uprising of 1680. Middle of the 19th century the village belonged to the district court or to the district Bohemian Bohemian Lipa Lipa.

Prior to the Munich Conference a fraternity celebration of Czechs and anti-fascist -minded Germans took place here on 28 August 1938, which went out in their meaning beyond the borders of the district.

The town has an architecturally valuable Baroque church is from 1785 and in the vicinity a number of dilapidated forts and castles.

2006, the community of the status of Městys was awarded.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Holany Holany ( caves ), Hostíkovice ( hospice ), Loubí ( arcades ), Oslo Vice ( Wasslowitz ) and Rybnov ( Rübenau ). Basic settlement units are Holany, Hostíkovice, Loubí and Oslo Vice.

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Holany and Loubí pod Vlhoštěm.
