Holger Nurmela

Holger " Hogge " Nurmela ( born October 28, 1920 in Stockholm, † 1 March 2005 in Botkyrka ) was a Swedish ice hockey player.

Career

Holger Nurmela began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at Hammarby IF, for the first team, he was from 1938 to 1950 in Division 1, the then highest Swedish league, active. With Hammarby he won in 1942, 1943 and 1945 respectively to the national championship. He then spent two years at league rivals AIK Solna, before he stood from 1952 to 1955 for Saltsjöbadens IF on the ice. Most recently, he played once a year for his hometown club Hammarby IF, before he ended his career at the age of 36 years.

Internationally

For Sweden Nurmela participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 in St. Moritz, in Oslo in 1952 and 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo part. At the Winter Games in 1952 he won the bronze medal with his team. As the best European team Sweden was also European champion. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the 1954 World Cup, where he also won the bronze medal with his team.
