Honeymoon Suite

Honeymoon Suite is a Canadian rock band from Niagara Falls, founded in 1982. The band name was chosen because Niagara Falls the "secret wedding capital " of Canada is.

Biography

The band was formed in 1982 by lead singer Johnnie Dee, Derry Grehan guitarist and drummer Mike Lengyell. Soon after the release of the song New Girl Now, with whom she won the contest of the radio station Q107 in Toronto, she signed a recording contract with WEA Canada.

Dee and Grehan won Ray Coburn on keyboards, Gary Lalonde on bass and Dave Betts on drums. In 1984 they released their debut album, Honeymoon Suite, with whom she had four big hits in Canada: New Girl Now, Burning In Love, Wave Babies, and Stay in the Light. The song New Girl Now reached the Top 50 in the U.S..

The following album, The Big Prize, produced by Bruce Fairbairn, was equally successful in Canada with four hits: Feel It Again, What Does It Take, Bad Attitude, and All Along You Knew. Feel It Again reached the Top 40 in the U.S., to the soundtrack of John Cusack film One Crazy Summer belonging What Does It Take however only accommodate 52, 1989 Bad Attitude played in the series finale of Miami Vice.

1986 keyboardist Ray Coburn temporarily left the band. He was replaced by Rob Preuss of Burlington, Ontario. Also in 1986 the band produced a track for the Charlie Sheen movie The Wraith -: Those Were the Days.

In spring 1987, the band wrote the song Lethal Weapon for the eponymous film starring Mel Gibson. In the winter of 1987 in Los Angeles work on their third album. Unfortunately, Johnnie Dee was approached at the airport by a car and broke his leg several times. While he was in the hospital, helped Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers at the photographs from. He wrote lyrics and sang in Long Way Back, which should appear in the new album.

In 1988, the third album was released: Racing After Midnight, produced by Ted Templeman of Van Halen. The album was in Canada in the top 10, but not in the United States. Singles thereof: Love Changes Everything, Looking Out for Number One, Cold Look ( Europe only) and It's Over Now.

1989 brought the band their first greatest hits compilation out, The Singles, which also contained the new single Still Loving You. Coburn came back to support the singles tour. It was the last tour in original composition until 2007.

1991 Lalonde and Betts left the band. They were replaced by Steve Webster (from Billy Idol's band ) on bass and Jorn Anderson on drums. This year, the fourth album Monsters Under the Bed was published. On this record, there are the singles Say You Do not Know Me and The Road. It was moderately successful in Canada.

In the 1990s, the band toured a lot, although the composition often changed. Only Dee and Grehan were left by the founding members.

In 2002, the first new studio album came out after 11 years, Lemon Tongue. The album was released under an independent label. The musical direction changed from the original rock orientation to a more artistic direction. In Europe the album Dreamland was called; Here it contained a number of changes; so there was also the songs Dreamland, Radiant, Even Now and Just Love Somebody.

2006, there was another greatest hits album called Feel It Again: An Anthology, a double CD that contains the most singles of the band, but in addition also selected albums material as well as rare and unpublished test material.

In June 2007, the band officially announced the reunion in the founding members.
