Hoofdklasse

The Hoofdklasse is a Dutch football league. It was founded in 1974 as the highest amateur league of the KNVB and the substructure to the two professional leagues Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie. Since 2010, the newly established top class took up their game operation, the Hoofdklasse at the 4th level of the system in Dutch football leagues. With the introduction of professional football mid-1950s Hoofdklasse was in season 1955/56, the name of the highest (professional ) football league was in played in two groups of Dutch football champions; the following season it was replaced by the newly Eredivisie.

Season breakdown

As a result of the historically grown confessional particularism ( Verzuiling ) of the Netherlands, the Hoofdklasse is divided into two departments, the Saturday and Sunday Amateurs ( zaterdagamateurs / zondagamateurs ). In the Samtagsgruppe traditionally Protestant and play in the Sunday group Catholic or proletarian embossed teams. From its foundation in 1974 until its replacement as the highest amateur league by the top class, both departments played in three squadrons nationwide their winner and then determined the Dutch amateur or Hoofdklassemeister.1 Since the season 2010/11 rise the winners of the three regional scales in the two groups on the top echelon. A championship is played currently not on section- even at the class level.
