Hoog Soeren
Hoog Soeren, Low Saxon: Hoog Soeren, is a village in the municipality of Apeldoorn in the Dutch province of Gelderland.
Geography
The district Hoog Soeren with neighborhood (including the hamlets Assel and Hoog Buurlo ) has 370 inhabitants, only the village of 190 inhabitants. The district has an area of about 44 km ². It is located in the west of the church, surrounded by the woods of the Veluwe.
To the north lies Het Loo, a museum of the history of the Dutch royal family and a former Royal Castle. Northwest of Hoog Soeren is the Torenheuvel, with 107 meters the second highest hill of Gelderland.
Since 1996 Hoog Soeren is a municipal protected village face.
History
Here people have lived in prehistoric times, the numerous burial mounds give evidence thereof. On an old map of the Veluwe to the 16th century Hoog Soeren is reported as Hooch gladly answer. The village at that time was the crossroads of important passage sandy paths, in Richtunge Harderwijk, Apeldoorn, Arnhem and Amersfoort.
Sports
The village has a golf club, the Veluwe Golf Club. In winter, the Midwinter Marathon is run in Hoog Soeren and environment.
