Hopeless Records

Hopeless Records is an independent record label based in Los Angeles. It was founded in 1993. Focus of the label is punk rock.

History

1993 Hopeless Records was founded in the district of Van Nuys by Louis Posen. He had previously shot video clips for NOFX (Bob, 1992) and Guttermouth. The latter had no record deal and asked poses, whether this could help them with the publication of a vinyl single at this time. Poses lent itself to the knowledge needed for this from the book How to Run at Independent Record Label which was written by a former employee of SST Records. The resulting label was named after the first song of Guttermouth -7 " Hopeless. After starting out in a small room, the label now operates a 400 -square-foot warehouse. The label has released since its founding more than 130 albums, composed more than three million copies sold and several of which reached the Billboard 200. 2005, a distribution deal with Soulfood Music was closed and opened an office in Berlin, which published on Hopeless plates were made ​​more accessible and German customers.
