Yellowcard

Yellowcard is a pop punk band from Jacksonville, Florida. Their music can be assigned to the alternative rock and the pop- punk. The peculiarity of the music of Yellowcard is the use of a violin.

History

Yellowcard were founded in Jacksonville in 1997 and consisted of five members Ben Dobson (vocals), Todd Clary (vocals, guitar), Ben Harper ( guitar), Warren Cooke (bass) and Longineu Parsons III (drums). Your name came from a party tradition, according to which it strikes, like football, everyone who spilled the drink or otherwise adversely a yellow card ( yellow card ) said. In the beginning there was confusion about the spelling, with or without spaces. The band agreed on Yellow Card, no spaces.

Their first album, Midget Tossing appeared in 1997. They asked Sean Mackin to play for some of their songs violin. In 1999, the band released their second album, Where We Stand on Takeover Records. Sean Mackin was now a member of the band. Shortly after, Ben Dobson left the group. As a new singer joined Ryan Key, an old friend to the band. He persuaded the rest of the group in Florida that no long-term success is achieved. The band then decided to move to California and published in 2000 the EP Still Standing. Shortly thereafter, Todd Clary left the band. Ryan Key took over his role and was now also a guitarist.

Published in 2001, her fourth album Yellowcard One for the Kids, with whom she achieved great success with their fans. Even with the subsequent The Underdog EP for Fueled by Ramen, they were a great success. The music direction on One for the Kids and The Underdog EP was already in contrast to their original albums. Their songs were more melodic. Following the release of Underdog EP Warren Cooke left the band and was replaced by Pete Mosely on bass.

In 2003, the album Ocean Avenue from the U.S. major label Capitol Records was published. It meant a major breakthrough for the band. For the first time they made it so that in the U.S. album charts and selling over a million copies. The title track was their largest ever single hit and was certified gold. Also the song Only One got gold for half a million copies sold, but not been in the charts. The songs Ocean Avenue and Way Away could also be placed in the UK charts.

After the recording of Ocean Avenue Mosely had to leave the band. When the band began their one and a half year tour, Alex Lewis leaped for him on bass. During their tour, however Mosely returned.

The live DVD of the album Beyond Ocean Avenue: Live at the Electric Factory was released in 2004 and also went platinum. Great attention also reached Yellowcard Gifts and Curses by the title on the soundtrack of the film Spider -Man 2

A large part of 2005 working on the album Yellowcard Lights and Sounds. On 7 November 2005 Yellowcard confirmed to MTV News, which has been suggested by fans for some time: Ben Harper left the band to concentrate on his indie label " takover Records ", as they drifted apart " personally and creatively have what can happen in any partnership " ([... ] We've simply grown apart, personally and creatively, which can happen in any relationship [ ...]). Sean Mackin added that this change was hard for all of them, but Ben will always be her brother ([... ] This change is hard for all of us but, Ben will always be our brother. [ ...]). Substitute for Harper was found in the form of Ryan Mendez. On 13 January 2006, the new single Lights and Sounds was released, the eponymous album followed on 27 January 2006 published by Lights and Sounds two singles:. Lights and Sounds Rough Landing and Holly. It was her most successful album internationally and was also placed in the charts in Europe and Australia. In the U.S., it reached the Top 5 on the album charts and got gold, but lagged behind the total of the previous album.

The next studio album Yellow Cards is titled Paper Walls and released in the U.S. on 17 July 2007 and reached number 13 on the U.S. charts. A single hit could not bring forth. On 17 October 2007 Pete Mosely left the band on the grounds that " to deal with otherwise " to ([... ] I have chosen to leave and pursue other Yellowcard Endeavors. [ ...]). At the same Mosely said that it was to him a great honor to be able to play along with Yellowcard and that it had made him fun to travel with the band around the world and to make music. The group then took a break.

In August 2010, Yellowcard signed a record deal with Hopeless Records and thus ended their break in order to devote himself to another studio album. Replacement for Pete Mosley on bass found Yellowcard in her long-time friend Sean O'Donnell.

The album When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes was published in spring 2011. On 23 October 2011, the acoustic version of the album followed.

In February 2012, the band announced that bassist Sean O'Donnell has left the band for personal reasons. On 17 February 2012, the band announced on their official website that Josh Portman will replace Sean O'Donnell bassist.

Furthermore, the band began in March 2012 with the recording of a new studio album. Ryan Key announced this in an official interview announced that he would have prepared all the songs to record from before the beginning of the recording sessions. May 22, 2012 published Yellowcard the single " Always Summer ". Their eighth studio album, " Southern Air " was released on 14 August 2012 and was a success in many countries. Among others, it abolished the album for the first time in the history of Yellow Card to achieve a top 100 ranking in the German album charts.

After a series of concerts ( including North America and Europe) Yellowcard announced on May 3, 2013 announced that they are once again on the occasion of his 10th anniversary of recording an acoustic version of their successful album "Ocean Avenue " in the studio. The release date is August 13, 2013 with the clamps.
