Khorasan (Kurdish: Xuristan ) is a Turkish city and also the administrative center of the homonymous district in the province of Erzurum. The town has 17,838 inhabitants Khorasan and the county 44,588 (as of 2008 ). Khorasan is located in the east of the province and borders the provinces of Ağrı and Kars.

The name Khorasan was awarded to the city of Turkish tribes from the region of Khorasan. Previously it was known as Üskühat / Skuhat. Khorasan was part of several kingdoms, but since the victory of the Seljuks in 1071, it was almost exclusively under Turkish rule. Since 1514 it was part of the Ottoman Empire. Then as now, Khorasan was part of the vilayets of Erzurum. With the victory of the Russians over the Turks in the war in 1878 Khorasan was formed together with Sarıkamış and Eleşkirt the border between Ottomans and Russians. Since December 4, 1953 Khorasan is an independent county (tr: Ilce )
